Collaborative work of B1 & B2 Lyceum in English class
The impact of music is a collaborative work of B1 & B2 classes in the English class during the school year 2013-2014. The aim of this collaborative work was to increase students’ motivation in English class and to make students co-constructors of their knowledge. Cooperative development was established among the students through collaborative tasks, extracurricular activities and a music performance. The students presented their work through Web tools, they conducted a questionnaire for a survey about teenagers’ preferences on music, they designed an e-book and they presented a music performance. The B1 & B2 classes’ collaboration focused on the use of team work in class and the importance of social bonds both of students and teachers. Professional development of the English language teachers was enhanced through the approach of team teaching. The two teachers shared the responsibility for teaching the two classes by planning the courses and deciding on the goals of the course, evaluating what was learned and reflecting on the outcomes of the course . Learners also benefited from having two teachers presenting in the class y experiencing two different styles of teaching. Team teaching thus facilitates individualized instruction because it creates learning environments involving closer personal contact between teacher and learner.
